Lots of stuff have been happening, and I'm glad I have today to just relax at home. There's some good, some wacky, and some lessons learned. So, here are some bullets of my musings:
- I spent some time with friends I haven't seen in months or even years. It was a nice and fun dinner, and I hope we do it again.
- I don't know how nurses/doctors do it: 12 hour work days are so exhausting! I've just about passed out by 9 o'clock every evening for the past week.
- It is very unlikely that human bites can result in a transfer of HIV, Hep B/C, or AIDS, (which I knew); however, they do warrant a Tetanus shot "just in case" because of minor skin breakage.
- Tetanus shots hurt, with an annoying "I fell asleep on my arm and now it has a dull ache" kind of feeling.
- I went on a shopping binge at Old Navy and Kohl's. I got a few henleys, polos, shrugs, and khakis, all for about 15-50% off. I ♥ sales. =)
- I'm in a baking mood. I can't wait until it's closer to The Hubby's birthday, just so I can bake him cookies.
- Carissa and I baked peanut butter chip double chocolate cookies last weekend, and I couldn't figure out why it tasted gross to me. Then I made the connection: unsalted butter does not compare to salted butter. She had unsalted, and we already sent her hubby out in the humid weather to get vanilla. Ah well. At least I know for me, *whispers* and I didn't take any myself. =P
- Kashi's having a Free Snack Event. I'm getting a free chocolate cookie from them. =P I also tried their dark chocolate chip and cherry granola bar. Yum!
- I don't think I want twins anymore.
- Pickle chips--not pickle-flavored potato chips--are delicious with a mayo dressing.
- I can't believe it's already halfway through September. I think I might actually make these 12-hour days work for me for the end of the sem.
- I found out "escucha" means "listen". And all this time I thought it was
blackbirdshaq's play on words. *L* - Pan's Labyrinth was a great movie.
- I talk a lot about food.
- Mood:
content - Music:Ka soundtrack
- 2 papers and 3 more classes to go.
- Sent out the evite for my bbq.
- Cadbury caramel eggs are only good at room temp. Not frozen. The creme eggs are the reverse. =P
- My computer fan doesn't seem to be working, so The Hubby plans to look at it this weekend.
- The weather's nice again. I'm loving it!
- My body seems to be broken this week. My head feels fuzzy, and my eyes are stinging from looking at my comp screen. I hope I'm not getting sick. =?
I think it's time for a nap. Then, my first paper.
- Mood:
indescribable
Today was uneventful. Nothing happened at my internship, so it made it rather difficult for my eyes to stay open without toothpicks. =P Usually I'm more alert and bouncy on Thursdays 'cause it's the start of my weekend, but, I stayed up way too late last night, trying to decipher code. =?
Therefore, since today's a not-so-much kind of day, I think I'll give some random bullet points of good things that have been happening lately:
Therefore, since today's a not-so-much kind of day, I think I'll give some random bullet points of good things that have been happening lately:
- I was offered a full-time job last week, with pretty good perks, and I've decided to take it. I've called my supervisor to let her know, and now I'm just waiting to hear from her so we can iron out some details. ^.^
- The Hubby told me last week that his boss chose him for a spot in a new programming project. He'll be going down to Texas in March for a couple of weeks. I'll miss him, but this is such a great opportunity for him. Woo!
- Our condo renovations have resumed. The Hubby's in the final stages of his comic book reorganization. I bought the paint sample jars from Behr.com to test out in the bedroom. Our goal's to get all that done by June this year. =)
- The Hubby talked to his boss a couple of months ago about a possible promotion. His boss told him yesterday that he's in really good standing for it. He prepped his resume to be thrown in the pot of potentials. He's been working with the company for almost 10 years, so this would be great for him. If you could spare some extra MOJO, we'd greatly appreciate it. I think he really needs this ego boost.

For the past week and a half, I've been trying like mad to do a series of "ups": catch up, clean up, make/fix up, and call up. I'm almost done!
♥ Much to my pleasant surprise, I've caught up with my f-list. Woo!
♥ Yesterday, I talked to my friend, who was sent on an Army tour to Iraq. He's doing fine, and I'm jealous he's going to Japan for 2 weeks. =P
♥ I talked to another friend with whom I haven't spoken in over a year.
♥ 5 loads of laundry, washed and folded!
♥ The Hubby and I bought some holiday gifts for some people, and I have a couple to make this week.
♥ The condo is almost back to "normal", with all the souvenir stuff put away.
♥ I did a lot of MoH stuff for my best friend's wedding.
♥ Update about PI, with pics, will be coming by the end of the week.
♥ I have a possible new client at my internship! *keeps fingers crossed*

Thanksgiving dinner went well. The in-laws came over to my parents', minus The Hubby's lola (grandma). With the huge spread, you'd think we had more people in attendance than the 9 of us. *L* Everyone seemed to have had a good time. While the "kids" sat in the living room, stuffing our faces, watching CSI, taking photos, and fighting off teh_Itis, the adults chatted it up in the dining room.
There was so much left over, it took Cris and me almost 2 hours to wrap stuff up--this was all after my in-laws took a good chunk home. While The Hubby and Marco slept, I took care of the dishes, and Cris and my dad took care of the rest of the cleanup. Cris had so much leftovers wrapped up, my mom joked that she looked like she just placed an order at the local Filipino restaurant. =P
We finally got home around 2am and passed out.
Since we refuse to go out on Black Friday, we spent the entire day trying to make a dent in the leftovers, catching up on our shows, making fun of each other, and playing computer games. Teh_Itis is gone. =)
Oh, and since I didn't post yesterday, here's my list of 7 Things I'm Grateful For:

- My family
- My friends
- My health/life
- Good people
- The ability to make choices
- Silly moments
- A little despair, to help me recognize when the really great things happen and to keep my eyes opened to helping others

Lots of stuff going on, so I think I shall create 2 bulleted lists to update you all on my fabulous life. =P
Lowlights:
- Had a woman, whom I didn't know, yell at me over the phone about why she hates the agency in which I'm interning.
- I'm behind in my internship paperwork...still.
- I still don't have a suitcase for my trip to the Philippines in December.
- My parents told me that the in-laws want to have Thanksgiving at our place this year. My parents are pushing for it too. 0.o
- Our place is nowhere near ready for the aformentioned bullet. =?
- I'm afraid I'm reaching near my burnout point with the kids at the program. I've been leaving frustrated for 3 straight weekends.
Though I probably cause myself more stress by complaining about things I have no control over, there are more positive things going on right now.
Highlights:
+ I had a fabulous time at my friends' Halloween Costume Party! Many sweets and costumes were enjoyed. =)
+ I ran my first Social Skills group at my internship. I think it went well.
+ I'm slowly getting back into my exercise groove. I feel good.
+ I had some QT with my best friend. We caught up on a lot of things. I missed her.
+ CHOOOOOOOCOLAAAAAATE! There's a chocolate show this weekend in NYC. I'm hoping to go with a few friends. Liza's coming with me. Yay! =P
+ I finished crocheting a boucle scarf (for the bro's gf) and one fingerless glove (for Cris). Pictures to be added soon.
+ I saw Cris before she left for Tracker School.
+ I talked to Marco today.
+ I might have dinner with my siblings in a couple of weeks.
+ Got an online hug from a friend this morning, after getting information about the Free Hugs Campaign.
How are you doing?

I haven't felt like posting much lately. I've been having a great couple of weeks, and I guess I've just been feeling worn out to post anything without really thinking about it. Therefore, here's a summary update of what's been going on in my life:
So, what's new with you?

I picked The Hubby up for lunch, and we discussed some more of what we were both feeling. I told him that I understand where he was coming from, and he had valid reasons for feeling the way he did. I told him that I am truly grateful for his willingness to shoulder the burden of being the sole "breadwinner", and that I would try to remember not to take advantage of that fact--meaning, no more skipping classes. He apologized for not telling me right away that he was still upset, and said he would make an effort not to hold his feelings in like that. I think we both felt better after that, and he even reached out to hold my hand on the drive home.
The day's benefits:
Received helpful feedback from
cookiegirlie and
princessluvie. Thank you! *smoochies*
Field instructor gave me a very positive field eval and I sat in a very informational group for my paper.
Told the kids that I'll be finished as an intern in two weeks, and got some hugs. =)
Got an unexpected and eclectic-looking postcard from a friend.
Had a chocolate chip cookie today. =P
The Hubby held me as we watched LOST.
princessluvie taught me how to do this list. Thanks! *huggles*
