Things are going pretty well. Counseling appointments are productive, as is work. I actually feel less anxious about "screwing up" with the kids, and am now kind of enjoying it. The kids are actually taking me more seriously, and I feel really confident that I'm helping them in some way, without damaging their already fragile support system. =)
In addition to work, the past couple of weeks surrounds around food and family. This weekend will be no exception. Fortunately, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. We're having a birthday dinner for my bro this Sunday, and that will be the end of it. He's now 21. *sniff* They grow up so fast. /sniff. May Madness is coming to a close, and I won't really have to worry about another birthday until mid-July. *big sigh of relief*
The Hubby's good. He's been tired as well due to May Madness and my work schedule. Summer hours should help alleviate the fatigue in a couple of weeks.
I forgot to mention the pressies I got recently, but I'm too tired to remember them all, and I want to include pics. The ones foremost in my mind are: Cadbury Flake and a thoughtful saying of Friendship in a beautiful frame from
Happy Friday, everyone! Enjoy the weekend!

I spent the weekend in Dallas, visiting The Hubby. The weather was gorgeous, despite the forecasts of chance thunderstorms throughout the weekend. =) We did the Tourist Thing on Saturday, walking around Dallas, visiting the place where JFK was shot, and going through the Sixth Floor Museum (dedicated to the JFK assassination). We went to this place called Papadeaux, which had awesome creole/cajun seafood, and had enough left over for a full meal the next day. On Sunday, we mostly relaxed, and took in a flick with Lucas Haas called Who Loves the Sun, one of the many films offered during Dallas' first AFI film festival. Some parts of the movie were good, but not enough to win a high rating from either of us. We got back to the hotel early, so The Hubby could do some laundry, and so we could catch up on some shows. I left Monday morning, and got back in time for my class, but not really because of my dinner outing with Cris and her Jon.
My internship's winding down, and tonight's my final group with my kids. We're going to be doing a little art project/recap, followed by a mini-pizza party. I feel a bit frazzled getting everything together (I was never good with party planning), but I think I have just about everything I need.
Well, need to get ready now. If only there were a place I could have my group outside. It's so gorgeous!

I made a pork stew from a recipe I found via AllRecipes.com. It was supposed to be for dinner, but the potatoes weren't ready as quickly as the recipe stated, so we had our backup dinner: rice and dinuguan. So, while the stew bubbled in the crock pot, I baked a yellow cake and tried to perfect my recipe for honey-roasted pecans. The yellow cake came out beautifully, and The Hubby was very happy (he was craving cake since Friday). The pecans didn't fare as well. About half of them came out burnt beyond saving, but the other half survived and travelled with The Hubby. Downtime was spent watching many back episodes of Scrubs, finally catching up to Season 5.
Sunday morning we woke up early so The Hubby could finish packing. We went to Church, and then I made one of our favorite brunch meals: lox and bagels. The Hubby and I left for JC about an hour later, and he left for the airport with my FIL and MIL shortly afterwards. I miss him. *sniffle* To put off going home to an empty condo for 2 weeks, I spent a few hours at my parents'. I brought over some of the stew that finally cooked, and a portion of the cake I baked. It was nice spending time with them, talking and laughing about PI, family, and food. I stopped back at my in-laws house (up the block) to visit for about an hour, before I dropped off Marco and headed for home.
Hm. Looking back on it now, I made a lot of food this weekend. Maybe I was making sure he'd miss me and my cooking? ;-P
Tonight, I go back to my ritual of classes and internship. I think I'm supposed to meet with a classmate tonight for coffee before class, but I'm not sure. I'll have to give her a call later this afternoon.

Sunday started out really early at 7am. The Hubby and I went to mass, then attempted to donate blood in the school cafeteria. The Hubby was able to, but my iron count was too low. =? So, while I waited for The Hubby, I was flirted up by the blood drive snack man and munched on homemade baked goods from the Church's bake sale. The man was sweet, but it made me feel very shy about how often he would compliment me, especially since I was there for quite a while. It wasn't creepy, just weird; so, to offset my discomfort, I watched a bunch of people register for a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament on the other side of the caf.
I was intrigued as to the number of people there, and how official it looked. The ages ranged from middle school to late high school. Once The Hubby finished donating, we took a look at some of the wares presented. On the way home, we discussed our interest in learning how to play, and then The Hubby surprised me with a starter deck for the game! Though there aren't enough cards for both of us, he figured we could share it, and figure out how to play, and slowly build it up. It was sweet that he was waiting for a special occasion to give it to me, and even sweeter that it became a random surprise. =) We're such geeks. =P
Shortly after getting home, I got ready and spent the afternoon with
Driving 40mph on the Turnpike, I got home around 9:30. The Hubby and I ate a late dinner, and watched a few shows before heading off to bed.
So, that's the rest of my weekend. It was full and nice. How was yours?

The sibs and my sister's boy came over last night, and we had a huge Japanese and Mexican themed meal. My bro's girl couldn't make it, so we made sure she had a sampler dish. What my sis cooked on the menu: Mexican-seasoned steak, and lime-infused shark steak. She also brought some homeade truffles she made, with the most popular one being the chipotle-coconut truffle. Yum. I prepared kani sushi (I also tried to do a crispy kani, but it wasn't too crispy), tempura broccoli, sauteed mushrooms, and Grilled Salmon Kyoto. At the end, everyone was pleasantly full. While fighting Teh Itis, we watched Las Vegas and 1 Vs. 100. My sis helped me clean up, and then headed home.
Today was work, which wasn't too exciting. Instead of our scheduled trip to the Y's Open Gym, we brought our kids to a Chinese buffet place for the activity. I'm still feeling full. =P I'm hoping I'll be hungry in an hour because The Hubby and I are meeting up with a few of his grad school classmates for dinner. We're heading to Carabba's, which is an Italian food place. I'm in the mood for Italian. =)
Tomorrow will be QT with
I planned to put up some pics, but I haven't painted the bedroom samples yet. I also haven't figured out which PI pics to post, so that's still pending.
I hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Therefore, since today's a not-so-much kind of day, I think I'll give some random bullet points of good things that have been happening lately:
- I was offered a full-time job last week, with pretty good perks, and I've decided to take it. I've called my supervisor to let her know, and now I'm just waiting to hear from her so we can iron out some details. ^.^
- The Hubby told me last week that his boss chose him for a spot in a new programming project. He'll be going down to Texas in March for a couple of weeks. I'll miss him, but this is such a great opportunity for him. Woo!
- Our condo renovations have resumed. The Hubby's in the final stages of his comic book reorganization. I bought the paint sample jars from Behr.com to test out in the bedroom. Our goal's to get all that done by June this year. =)
- The Hubby talked to his boss a couple of months ago about a possible promotion. His boss told him yesterday that he's in really good standing for it. He prepped his resume to be thrown in the pot of potentials. He's been working with the company for almost 10 years, so this would be great for him. If you could spare some extra MOJO, we'd greatly appreciate it. I think he really needs this ego boost.

Me: 0.o No. It's a wig.
Him: Oh. It is? =/
Me: No. *ROFL*
Oooh boy. I really had no idea what he was asking. It's past midnight, and my brain feels exhausted. What's even more hilarious is that he thought I really meant I had a wig on because he's just as tired. =P
Okay. Time for sleep. Good night.

I've been feeling kind of down and stressed lately because I have about 2 1/2 months left to my internship, and I still haven't had a consistent individual client. =? I'm worried that I won't get the experience that I was looking for. I even started to wonder if I was doing something wrong; but, in all likelihood, it has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with whether the contact's ready for therapy. A little part of me still thinks that, but most of me is just hoping for the best now.
On the bright side, I got a good amount done at my internship this week. I completed a lot of paperwork that's been on hold, like closing 2 cases and finishing all my notes, and I made several calls to potential clients. I feel accomplished and hopeful. I even got internship credit hours for volunteering for a homeless outreach program today. I met some nice people, and learned quite a bit from them. =)
Since I was having such a good and productive day, I decided to go to the mall to do a little clothes shopping. I've been wanting to buy a new pair of black work pants and a couple of nice sweaters; and, mission accomplished! I bought a nice pair of slacks, a sweater, and a couple of camis at NY&Co, and a fleece pullover and some dress socks at this place called Uniqlo. The place is pretty cool. They even advertise to alter pants you've purchased! Overall, I saved about $50 on my shopping trip, and got what I needed. W00t!
Tonight's Thursday TV Madness for The Hubby and me, so I will be spending the rest of the night melting my brain with him. Have a great evening!

I think that I was feeling a bit down because The Hubby was away. I was feeling alone and isolated; but, a few visits to my family helped that. I'm still trying to coordinate with counseling services to set up an appointment, but I'm hopeful. So, I'm pretty happy again. =D

On a related side note, The Hubby's too cute. This is part of the conversation I had with him about working on my paper:
[10:35] Lirilith05: Ok. Going to eat now, and make a dent in my paper
[10:37] The Hubby: baaaabe, don't damage your paper, you need to hand it in
*L*. He's so silly.
Okay. One more paragraph before I have to get ready for my internship.

I did a little errand shopping before work. I got a few art/craft things from Michael's. My sorority sister's birthday's on Monday, and I found a cute sticky pad and a Sudoku puzzle book to give. Afterwards, I stopped by ULTA for some face lotion and lip balm. I also had a nice deli lunch with The Hubby. The place makes really good red potato salad. Yum. =P
I found the perfect shots for the new theme layout I'm trying to work on. If I find more choice scenery, I might take more. The colors were gorgeous!
I got to work a little late, but my super was understanding. I ended up co-facilitating all the groups with one of the interns today because the rest of the staff were catching up on paperwork to prep for JCAHO. The kids were kind of all over the place, probably because there were 7 of them cramped in a small space all afternoon. Or maybe it was a full moon? One kid shut down twice, and another had 3 mini- and 1 large meltdown. With my paranoia, I wondered why they were acting out with me? Probably because I'm still a little green. =? Ah well. There was no real mutiny, and the kids are all safe at home now.
Once we got home, we shared some ramen and cookies for dinner, while we watched L&O: CI, My Name is Earl, and Scrubs. The Hubby thinks he might be getting sick, so he went to bed early. I think I might join him.

So, that part of the movie date was good. What happened afterwards was <insert expletive here>.
I thought these two women were <insert another expletive here>. I was so pissed of how they got into his face like that. They talked during the movie. Not us. They were just pissed that The Hubby called them out on it.
We continued to talk about it on the way to Quiznos. He said he anticipated them getting defensive like that, but he also felt like it was something that "they shouldn't get away with". We were both feeling kind of pissed off by the time we got to Quiznos, but there was nothing we could do. We weren't sorry we sat in front of them. We were just sorry it went down like that. After venting and ordering, lo and behold! Green and Orange ladies show up in Quiznos. What kind of weird coincidence was that?? The Hubby and I went over, and apologized for how it went down. They were civil. Green lady was able to apologize back for getting so defensive. Orange lady didn't say it, but we like to believe that she looked apologetic as well. So weird.
Once we got home, The Hubby vented to his friends via text. I vented here. So there you have it. I'll update about the rest of my weekend later, as well as catching up with my f-list. I hope you're all having a good one.
RSN: I noticed at Quiznos that the ladies were wearing the same colors The Hubby and I were wearing (him green, me orange). Weirdness!

I stopped by NY&Co to look for some dress pants for work, but found nothing that really caught my eye. I stopped by Macy*s and bought a new, sophisticated bag for myself. It's got brown and black, so it can go with everything. Added bonus was the 30% off sale that was going on. I also bought a black blazer to add to my changing wardrobe. I figure that I'm in my mid-twenties, so I should really try not to look like I'm still in HS (in terms of dress-style).
I also picked up a birthday card for The Hubby, which brought tears to my eyes because it's that sappy. =P
I spent about $60 for everything today. Pretty good, considering the quality of the stuff I bought, though I'm not used to spending that much in one day. Does that make me a cheapskate? Probably. *L*

- The Hubby and I talked about future children and stuff this morning over dim sum. We discussed how we (including our siblings) addressed our parents, what traditions would we have our future kids follow (i.e. what to call older siblings), and what we remember our parents doing for us when we were kids. I hope I didn't scare The Hubby with the kids talk again. *L*
- In the last few years, my parents have discovered the joys of non-work email. Unfortunately, they've also discovered the "Forwards". Now, I don't mind them sending me forwards, especially the Filipino jokes (because I am one, and many are so silly and sometimes true *L*), but I wish they wouldn't keep sending me the same one more than twice. o.0 I got one from my mom today. I know she's a bit forgetful, but I've gotten the same email 4 TIMES before. Oh, and not just from her, from my dad too. I wish they would check in the addresses to see if the other one already sent it. *sigh* I love them, but it makes me crazy having all this junk email in my inbox that I've already gone through. =?
- Tonight, The Hubby and I are going to the in-laws for a prayer service for his grandpa's 10-year death anniversary today. The Hubby hasn't said much today in respects to how he's feeling about it, but I'm sure he'll tell me in his own time if he needs to. My parents will probably be there. Maybe Cris too.

Friday
Went to the university gym and swam in the pool for about 20 minutes in less than an hour of being in the pool. Woo! New record! Go me!
I got home, had some breakfast, and headed off to work. I felt so tired from the first full work/internship/class week, I was looking forward to crazy-hyper kids. Luckily, they were. I had so much fun at work, even the kids thought I was silly and nuts. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. =P There was one kid (normally a good behavior kid), who completely shut down towards the end of the day, and hid under the table during Points and Feedback. My coworker and I felt so frustrated! He did so well with his client-specific goals that he earned a stamp; but, because of his non-goal behaviors (hiding under the table and refusing to come out), he lost his privilege for a stamp (gets a sticker, and would be one step closer to earning a bigger prize). He stuck his ground for a while, then did a complete 180 and was back to being happy-go-lucky. Like a mini-Jekyll and Hyde trick. o.0
After work, I was too tired to watch a movie, so The Hubby and I ordered a bento box from our favorite Japanese fast food place, and watched tv. We turned in early because we had a full day of eating ahead of us.
Saturday
Woke up early (all The Hubby's fault--darn internal clock!), had a small breakfast, and then got ready for my dad's company picnic.
The ride was short to the park, where we met my sister, Cris, and my parents. My bro wasn't able to make it because he was working. That's all right. More food for the rest of us. It was BBQ heaven: hot dogs, cheese/hamburgers, italian hot dogs, ribs, shish kabobs (shrimp and beef), raw clams on a half shell (The Hubby liked these), french fries, cole slaw, and an ice cream truck just for us! I think I had one of everything. Except the clams. We got on the long, 20-min line for ice cream, and stuffed ourselves silly with chocolate dipped waffle cones and milkshakes. Mmm.
There were some games, but they weren't fun to watch unless my siblings participated. Cris decided to dub The Hubby "S4" because he is now considered one of the siblings (by my dad for pics). What was a strange sight at the picnic was a fold-up beer pong table. o.0 My dad mentioned that a lot of recent grads were hired when the company expanded. Oh. Okay. I guess that explains the college student games. Heh. Another interesting sight was watching a guy, who reminded Cris and me of Milton in the movie Office Space. My dad pointed him out to Cris, telling her that he's still a bachelor and that it was a "shame". Probably because the guy came by himself, and wandered around by himself much of the time. He definitely took on the Milton-persona, while we watched him watch a beer pong game. =( We felt so sad for him, but, maybe he likes his life that way? *shrugs*
The Hubby and Cris left early because they were meeting people, so my parents and I stayed until almost the very end. We were able to snag some of the leftover food (there was soooo much!) for doggie bags. As if we didn't have enough food, we went to the International Food Mart for more food. I scored 8 packages of Ramen for $1! Woo!
I took my parents home, and stayed over because I had a few events going on in the area the next day. I got to see my bro, Marco, for a couple of hours, before he had to go back to school. Somehow, I ended up sleeping at 1am. Only at my parents' house do I do this. Weird.
Sunday
My dad woke me up early, and we went to church together. I saw the in-laws there, and chatted with them a bit, after mass. My dad drove me to the wedding shower I had that morning, and I told him I'd be home later in the day, after the shower, the play, and the friend visit I had planned.
The shower was fun. It was in a little tea house, where I got my own mug with my name painted on it, and a little white tea box favor. The bride was tricked by being told that a university tv network was going to be filming that day, and that she should come down, nicely dressed. She was shocked to see me (I haven't seen her in years), but glad as well. We had delish paninis, and honey/chocolate waffle cookies with our tea. There was a Dare Jar, where "nothing is too riske." I dared the bride to put the groom over her lap, and spank him. She did it, and was so into spanking him. *L*
I left early to make it to the one act play festival Liza stage managed. She didn't like any of the plays at all, but I liked a few. The first was boring, the second was strange, the third was funny (everyone was stripped down to their underpants), and the fourth nudged at the social worker in me. I was even happier for getting a comp ticket. Gotta love the connections. =) I met Liza afterwards, and we got some food at Panera's, before heading over to our friend's place (she recently had surgery).
I mentioned my frustration to Liza about trying to contact Carissa prior about visiting her, and not getting a hold of her. Liza understood. At least we were able to get in touch with her. We stopped by, ate, talked for close to 5 hours about our men, vacations, her surgery, and updates about us. We left when my parents called and said I should get back because I still have to drive home.
I chatted with my parents a little bit before heading out. I got home around midnight, waking up The Hubby. He was a little cranky, but didn't say anything.
Overall, a pretty good weekend. The lowlight: driving and not finishing my class reading. The highlight: yummy food and good company.

I seem to have very lucid dreams when I'm very tired. Last night's was particularly vivid...and weird.
Most of it was a jumble of different things I was thinking about throughout the day yesterday; however, one storyline in particular stuck in my mind when I woke up. I was with a bunch of monkeyboxers/lj-ers in a castle, trying to uncover some conspiracy against us. While
pupdog311 and
ktkatrina attempted to keep us hidden from our unknown enemies,
blackbirdshaq,
ejtheviking, and I tried to solve a snake-shaped puzzle. I think that solving it was supposed to keep the city from blowing up. =? Every now and again, pup would peek out and shoot at our supposed enemies. I think a couple of them were coworkers. o.0 Katrina rushed to find us an alternate exit, finding one through an underground tunnel. One more piece to the snake puzzle was needed. Trae had it. I felt really anxious. She was about to place it in when...
...I woke up. =?
I'm not sure what it all meant, but I have some theories:
- I had a lot of anxiety about meeting my first client for individual therapy today. However, it went okay, so I'm relieved.
- I was talking to some of these people in the last couple of weeks online. =)
- I've been watching too much tv drama late at night. ^.^
I've been a much better mood than in past weeks, so I've been somewhat hyper. This is good for my productivity. I've been hitting the gym a few days out of the week. I've also been trying to keep on top of my readings already (it helps that my prof is giving assignments based on the readings). A funny side effect of being in my uber-happy, playful mood is that I like to push The Hubby down on the bed like The Big Mean Kid on the playground. Yeah. I did it today. >=) He looked at me funny. I think he was wondering if I was on crack. *L*
Tomorrow is the gym and work. And maybe a movie date with The Hubby, if the show time isn't too late. We want to see either The Black Dahlia or The Last Kiss.
Okay. Off to bed. I've said, "We'll go to bed soon" long enough.
